HEIKKI HAUTALA
Life Coach from Hell
Heikki Hautala’s exhibition Life Coach from Hell at Photographic Gallery Hippolyte consists of recent drawings and paintings. The works explore the sore points of individuals and society as well as people in the crossfire of external impulses, in the midst of increasingly unforgiving values. They are glimpses of the area between reality and unreality. Quickly executed with direct painting, Hautala’s works convey the mood of an age that suffers from ever shorter attention spans.
Heikki Hautala (b. 1980) lives and works in Pori. He graduated from the Fine Arts programme at Satakunta University of Applied Sciences in 2009. Hautala’s preferred areas are painting and drawing because of their immediacy, but he also works with other media, such as performance and wood carving. Making and performing music is also part of his artistic practice. As a counterbalance to his personal artistic work, Hautala is active in the non-profit T.E.H.D.A.S. art organisation.
