Hippolyte events in August

In August, Photographic Gallery Hippolyte offers artist talks, guided tours and book launches.
Some of the events are part of Helsinki Festival’s Night of the Arts and Gallery Week Finland, providing an opportunity to meet the artists behind the works.

Thursday 14 August – Night of the Arts
Hippolyte will be open extended hours until 7 pm. A guided gallery tour starts at 5 pm at Galleria Sculptor (Eteläranta 12) and visits Galleria G, tm•gallery, Photographic Gallery Hippolyte and Galleria Sinne. The tour will be guided by Katariina Salmijärvi.

On the same evening from 5–7 pm, the opening of Jesper Dolgov’s exhibition Heavy Light will take place at Hippolyte Korjaamo (Töölönkatu 51 A–B, 00250 Helsinki).

Thursday 21 August
From 5–7 pm, the Hippolyte bookshop will host the launch of photography art books by Jussi Puikkonen and Jenni Toivonen. The books will be available for purchase at a special price for the evening, with refreshments served during the event.

Gallery Week 26–31 August

Thursday 28 August
Launch of Katja Tähjä’s new work Letters from a Land That Does Not Exist from 5 pm onwards. At the same time, the artist’s exhibition of the same name will be on view for its final week. Expect a relaxed evening of photographic art and books, with light refreshments served. The book will be available at a special launch price during the event.

Friday 29 August
From 3–5 pm, artist Kastehelmi Korpijaakko will be present in the gallery to meet visitors to her exhibition A Comedy About a Meadow That Wanted to Own Itself, for its final week.

Saturday 30 August
An English-language guided tour starts at 1.30 pm from Galleria Sculptor, visiting the same galleries as the 14 August tour: Galleria G, tm•gallery, Photographic Gallery Hippolyte and Galleria Sinne. The guide for the tour will be Jane Hughes.
