The open call held in April received around 130 applications, from which a total of six were selected for Photographic Gallery Hippolyte and Hippolyte Studio. One exhibition time for the entire Gallery has been reserved for a collaborative exhibition with the Estonian Union of Photographic Artists. The exhibitions will run for 4.5 weeks. Thank you to all applicants!
The applications were assessed, and the exhibition selections made, by the Exhibition Committee of the Association of Photographic Artists, comprising Adele Hyry, Hertta Kiiski, and Katri Lassila, together with guest experts, curator Elina Suoyrjö and association member artist Kristiina Mäenpää.
The exhibition programme is considered as a whole, taking into account any previously selected exhibitions for the year. The committee is responsible for curating the programme based on the applications received, ensuring that it showcases photographic art through a variety of techniques and subjects, and that the artists are represented as diversely as possible.
Since 2025, Photographic Gallery Hippolyte has been available to artists rent-free, and in 2026 we have also been able to pay exhibition fees to the artists.
The rental of the exhibition space and the ability to pay artists’ fees depend on the assocations grants and other sources of income. If funding remains at the current level, the space can continue to be offered rent-free and fees paid for upcoming exhibitions as well.
