HIPPOLYTE VINTAGE
Opening at the end of November, Hippolyte Vintage focuses on analogue and unique photographic art pieces printed by the artist themselves. The exhibition is curated by Elina Heikka, director of the Finnish Museum of Photography.
Most of the images in the exhibition were taken and printed during the 1980’s and 90’s, but a few older gems are also included. The layers of time are visible in the works, but as a whole the exhibition turns the combination into something new and fresh.
The original prints seen in the exhibition have been preserved in artists’ personal archives. Hippolyte Vintage presents its viewers a rare opportunity to see and acquire early Finnish photographic art, not often available.
The exhibition includes 22 pieces by 15 well-known Finnish artists: Kristoffer Albrecht, Stefan Bremer, Pira Cousin, Henrik Duncker, Taneli Eskola, Veli Granö, Ben Kaila, Kapa, Ulla Paakkunainen, Saku Paasilahti, Antero Takala, Pekka Turunen, Sakari Viika, Magi Viljanen & Petri Virtanen.
Henrik Duncker, Boris Sundelin, Intiankatu 20, 1990. Chromogenic colorprint, 38 x 46,5 cm.
Taneli Eskola, Georg Otsin aukio, Tallinna 1980. Silver gelatin print 23,5 x 35 cm.
