Artproof Grant Finland 2021 has been awarded to Karl Henrik Edlund. As a part of the award he gets an opportunity to show his work at Hippolyte Korjaamo in a solo exhibition.
The exhibition Eden is named after Edlund’s grandfather’s garden island in the Archipelago Sea, in Åland Islands, Finland. In the series, consisting of photographs taken over a course of sixteen years (2004-2019), Edlund approaches the question of how ambiguity relates to the notions of place.

Karl Henrik Edlund is a photographer based in Helsinki. After graduating in photojournalism from Nordens Fotoskola in Biskops-Arnö, Sweden, and studying photography at Atelier Smedsby in Paris, Edlund enrolled the Valand Academy in Gothenburg to study filmmaking. His works have been featured in numerous exhibitions since 2009, with solo exhibitions in e.g. Sandvikens konsthall, Sweden (2019); the Finnish Museum of Photography, Finland (2018); and Galleri Breadfield, Sweden (2017). His first book, Bright Hours, published by Journal in 2016, was nominated for the Finnish Photobook of the Year Award in 2017 and selected for Hasselblad Center’s exhibition ’Published – Photo Books in Sweden’ at Gothenburg Museum of Art in 2018. In 2021, Edlund was awarded with the Golden Shade Prize at Tampere Film Festival.
In 2021 Artproof Grant Finland is awarded for the fourth time to a young Finnish or Finland-based artist. The competition is organised in co-operation with Artproof OÜ and Association of Photographic Artists. The grant is supported by Hahnemühle.
